Golf Course Closing Update - The first snowfall of the year has reminded us what it means to live in New England and we are now putting our winter prep plans into motion.  These plans include the following: 1.  Greens:  Final snow mold applications on greens and approaches, followed by topdressing and covering.  Covers are being staged right now and I expect to begin putting covers on our shade greens (2,3,4,10,15,16) by Friday.  Whatever greens aren't covered will be covered by Monday. 2.  T... Course Update - Aerification Edition - It has been a very busy spring so far at the club both with maintenance work and member play.  By the end of the week we will have done over 3,000 rounds so far.  By comparison last year at this time we did roughly 650 rounds.  We just hosted the 2016 MGA Four Ball Championship and our outing schedule begins next week.  If you look at the club's golf calendar there isn't any letup until the middle of October.  That kind of traffic, along with all of the staff and equipm... Golf Course Update - December 9 - It's been some time since I updated the Maintenance Blog.  I have been using my Twitter account almost daily to update what has been happening on the course.  If you are looking for regular course updates I would recommend that you save this link for future use. The fall cleanup and preparations for winter are almost complete.  This weather has been fantastic for winter prep as well as golf and I can honestly say that we have never been this ready to see the sn... Goats and Your Golf Course - It has been a very busy year at the club.  On the Grounds side it's been especially busy because we had/have positions available on staff that we weren't able to fill this year.  When that happens we look at our priorities...and those areas that will need to wait until late fall or when we have frost delays.  One such area is the space between the 8th and 9th tees where the rock outcropping that we've brush cut over the years has become overgrown.  This is where the go... 10 Green Renovation Work - The club decided to renovate the collars and surrounds on the 10th green to address the ryegrass playability issue on the collar and approach.  This is our test run where we can develop and fine tune our maintenance of the new sod with the hope of doing more in the future.  As you will see we opened up the surrounds to the edge of the fill pad with the intention of expanding the green after one growing season.  As a result new irrigation was installed so that all irriga...
